The Theorists are multi-disciplinary experimentalists rooted in optimism, creating in Austin, Texas, and beyond. Our mission is to do what we love with those we love for a little longer in a world that is a little kinder. We ignite movers of diverse backgrounds to harmonize complexities so we can show up daily with a hunger for life. Showing up is the show. We aim to be agents of change, embracing the deep ethos of optimism and the unpredictable storytelling of movement. We believe that the essence of life is conversational.

Our vision is to create a global community where artists from diverse backgrounds come together to explore, innovate, and share their unique practices. We believe in the power of art to cultivate meaningful relationships and transcend boundaries. Influenced by over 15 years of diverse practices and mentorship, The Theorists' movement research aims to inspire and transform lives. Through our year-round TBX [Toolbox] Laboratory training program, we offer weekly classes, workshops, choreographic residencies, and professional development. Our annual REST Fest in Austin epitomizes this vision, uniting over 100 multi-disciplinary artists for performances, classes, and installations. We experiment with theories grounded in lived experience and grow from a place of rest and relationship. We envision a world where art fosters connection, critical consciousness, and resilience, helping us navigate life’s complexities with creativity and optimism.
